The last meeting of the MIOH Woodturners was held last Saturday at the Christ Episcopal Church. We had 27 members and guest in attendance. Birthdays celebrated in May were for Darlene Southward and Rick Kimling. Jim Nickless reported that he can still collect flag bases at the June meeting and get them to the VA before flag day. When you have some free time, make some more. Our Veterans will appreciate them. Lynn and Bob Seeberger went to Dave Peebles and picked up several boxes of past woodturning magazines which were donated to our club. They will be available to our members at future meetings. The challenge for May was to use alternative material in the entry. Winners were: Henry Timmerman with his mug made from coffee grounds, Rick S with his marble vessel, and Lynn Southward with his three winged bowl. Break time featured cookies by Lynn and Darlene Southward.

Our demo was presented by Bob Dailey from the Detroit area Woodturners. He did a warm up by making a foot massager and then turned a natural edged bowl. The bowl is now in the possession of Bob Seeburger. He will finish it and bring it to the next meeting. Next monthís Challenge will be for you to make a natural edged bow. It does not have to have bark on it but the edges should not be sanded. Our next meeting will be on June 11th. Iíll let you know what the demo will be when itís confirmed.
