May 9th Meeting Recap:

Randy Maynard and Steve Seiler are our newest members. (We did not get e-mail address for either, so if anyone has them, please let me know). Ron Olin reported our financial Balance is $2604.61. We did acquire a new chuck and lathe bed extension for our Midi Jet and both have now arrived so we do have these to come out of the balance. Jim Nickless reported that the Bird Houses we donated to the Bixby Hospital fund raised brought in $400.00 for them. Lynn Southward gave a report on his display at the Tecumseh “Meet the Artist” show last month and we’re still looking forward to Mitch’s experience at the “In Good Company” restaurant.

Scott Solsburg presented a great demonstration on Lidded boxes. He gave us all the basics on how to get started and this leads us to next month’s Challenge. Make a Lidded Box. It can be suction fix, loose, or threaded. We still need volunteer to bring snacks for the June Meeting and to help set up before the meeting. Please let me know if you can help with either. Jim Nickless supplied the break time snacks for the May meeting. Thanks, Jim.

Our June 13th President's Challenge item is a lidded box.  It can be suction fit, loose or threaded.  We will have a surprise demo.  Please don't forget that our meetings are now held at Christ Episcopal Church at 720 Riverside Ave in Adrian near Bixby Hospital.  The meeting will start at 10AM and we don't have to be out of the building by 1PM any longer. The pictures below show some of the items brought in for the monthly President's Challenge "Something for the Kitchen" and show-and-tell.  Congratulations to our May President's Challenge winners Lynn Southward-Advanced, Jim Nickless-Intermediate and Denis Sisung-Novice!   As always, thanks to all of those that brought in items for the President's Challenge, show and tell, and those that brought in flag bases for our veterans.

Jim Nickless was kind enough to put together a list of available resources for our club library.  Here is a link to Jim's list:  Library List

We are starting a mentoring program for our membership.  If you are willing to help by fielding questions, please get in touch with any of the club officers.

Don't forget about our special challenge of turning wooden flag holders for our veterans at the Ann Arbor VA hospital.  All bases should have a 3/16" hole to accept the flag.  Lloyd Niederriter brought this need to our attention.  He has been heading the program and is shown below holding one of the holders made by our members.
