The last meeting of the MIOH Woodturners was held last Saturday Dec. 10th at the Christ Episcopal Church in Adrian. We had 25 members in attendance with Tim Parker as our guest.  Treasurer Ron Olin reported we have a balance of $2,010.49 with all outstanding bills paid. We do need volunteer to bring snacks/cookies for this coming years meetings. You can sign up at the meeting or email me and I'll put you on the list. I have started a Face Book page for the MIOH Woodturners. There's not much there yet, but I hope to have some project photos and contact information posted soon. Elections for the next term were held and the results are as follows. President - Len Coleman, Vice President - Tom Jones, Secretary - Jim Nickless, Treasurer - Rich Enders, Board member at large - Robert Seeburger. Congratulation to allow. As usual we had a good turn out for our "Show and Tell" and Raffle. The Challenge was to turn a Christmas ornament and was won by Jim Nickless. We also had a "Toys for Tots" donation table which was filled thanks to everyone's support. Our demo. was presented by Scott Solsburg. He brought his Spring Pole Lathe and brought us on his journey in making it and in how to operate it. He started with Roy Underhill's design and modified it to meet his personal criteria. Scott gave us a well thought out and entertaining presentation. Thanks Scott. The Challenge for the January Meeting will be to turn a "Valentines Day" gift. This will give you an extra month to make another one if you get inspired by others at the meeting. The Jan. demo is yet to be announced. Either Len or I will let you know in the next email.

Jim Nickless was kind enough to put together a list of available resources for our club library.  Here is a link to Jim's list:  Library List

We are starting a mentoring program for our membership.  If you are willing to help by fielding questions, please get in touch with any of the club officers.

Don't forget about our special challenge of turning wooden flag holders for our veterans at the Ann Arbor VA hospital.  All bases should have a 3/16" hole to accept the flag.  Lloyd Niederriter brought this need to our attention.  He is shown below holding one of the holders made by our members even though Jim Nickless is now heading the program.
