I am selling a used Jet 1442 VSK lathe (K=with cast iron legs) for Emil's widow Sylvia. This lathe has been used for about 10 years and runs well. The lathe has factory speeds from 450-3000 rpms and one modified extra slow speed (maybe 300-350 rpms for starting bowls). The reeves drive runs smoothly at all speeds. The lathe motor fan cover has been cut out slightly to allow for larger platters and faceplates but doesn't effect the operation (shown in pic #3). The lathe headstock has a chip out of it where the original indexing pin hole was (shown in pic #3). Another hole has been drilled tapped to allow for indexing so this doesn't have any effect other than looks. The lathe comes with the factory live center, spur drive, (1) 3-4" factory faceplate and (1) homemade nut and washer faceplate, knockout rod, tommy bar, etc. I will also include a spare belt and misc. turning chisels that I suspect are carbon steel including 2-3 spindle roughing gouges, several (approximately 3) round nose scrapers, and several (approximately 3) square nose scrapers. Like most any lathe that is 10 years old, it does have some finish spilled on the finish so it does look used and not new.

The lathe also comes with a secondary wooden stand with a locking drawer for tool storage that sits underneath the factory cast iron legs.

The new version of this lathe (the Jet 1440 VSK) sells for $1600 on Amazon and is 2 inches shorter and uses most of the same parts. I would like to get $800 for his widow but am open to offers. This lathe is currently in the basement but does break down to manageable pieces. I am willing to help someone carry the pieces out of the basement and help load. This lathe must be picked up. Cash only please.
